What antimicrobial treatments, degreasers and disinfectants do after a loss, and why cleaning comes before spraying.
Many people think restoration means spraying a chemical. In reality, cleaning and removal do most of the work. Antimicrobial products are used on cleaned surfaces after contaminated materials have been removed, to help control bacteria and mold growth.
Different jobs call for different products: degreasers for kitchen soot, disinfectants for sewage and biohazards, and mold-control products where appropriate. Products are used according to their labels and with ventilation and protective equipment. Chemicals do not replace drying and moisture control.
