Stain-blocking primer, patching, painting and trim work that make repaired areas disappear into the rest of the room.
Painting is the last step and the one you see the most. After a loss, good finish work needs the right primer, a consistent sheen and careful color matching so the repair does not stand out.
We prime stained and smoke-damaged surfaces with stain-blocking or sealing primer, patch and sand, then paint walls, ceilings and trim. When a color is hard to match, we repaint to the nearest corner so the room looks uniform. Good paint work depends on preparation. We clean surfaces, repair small flaws, caulk gaps and prime stains and odors before the first coat of color. We then apply two coats for even coverage, cut in carefully at the trim and ceiling and remove tape while the paint is still slightly soft for a crisp edge. Floors and furniture are covered, and we clean up each day.
Water stains and smoke show through ordinary paint. A stain-blocking or odor-sealing primer keeps them from returning.
Paint fades and sheens differ. We test matches and often repaint a full wall so the color is even.
Clean trim, caulk lines and clean edges are what make a room look finished.
Keep a labeled can of each paint color for touch-ups. We can record names and sheens.
